Installation of the work which incorporated 3 separate elements in Corten Steel
Concept
Functioning as part of the northern entry to Meadow Springs, this unique entrance has its origins in traditional origami, which was about a unique form of transferring messages between two parties – one that becomes a treasured memento.
The limestone clad wall and its folded concrete counterpart rise and settle, signifying a developing community within the landscape.
The combined landscape, art and key architectural elements instill a sense of pride and respect– while echoing the Community's values of aspiration, natural environment, home, and family.
‘Rhythm of life’
Working in close collaboration with Mirvac and the City of Mandurah, Western Australian artists Johannes Pannekoek and Gordon Mitchell, have created a unique and complementary piece that speaks just as much about continual growth and unity as it does evoke interest and intrigue.
Three curved structures represent the surrounding natural environment including the movement of water wind and the rolling greens of the golf course.
The dynamic combination of the three elements can be appreciated from all sides with references to the distinctive shape of local cormorants and the wind blown meadow grasses.
